Dr. Amitabh Parti is Head of Internal Medicine at Fortis Memorial Research Institute, Gurgaon — one of India’s foremost tertiary care hospitals. He has spent thirty-eight years in clinical practice, and the better part of them at the bedside.

He completed his MBBS at the University of Punjab in 1986, where he stood first in all three professional examinations, took the Gold Medal, and was adjudged Best Graduate of his batch. He returned to the same university for his MD in Internal Medicine, completed in 1991.

Before Fortis, he served as Medical Director of the Florence Nursing Home and as Visiting Consultant to Max Hospital and the Artemis Health Sciences Institute. His clinical depth lies in general internal medicine — infectious disease, hypertension, diabetes and its modern therapies, thyroid disorders, and the tropical fevers that arrive with each North Indian season.

A second, quieter specialisation runs alongside the first: corporate health. For over two decades he has designed and run health surveillance programmes, emergency and triage systems, and annual screening portfolios for major Indian corporations, and serves as empanelled visiting physician to Engineers India Limited, Ballarpur Industries, Indus Towers, MakeMyTrip, Ibis Hotels, and the University of Delhi, among others.

His academic record includes a case study in JAMA (1991) on spontaneous bacterial peritonitis in nephrotic syndrome, a paper in the BMJ on a one-minute spot-room endoscopy test for Helicobacter pylori, and a presentation on thrombolytic therapy in acute myocardial infarction at the CSI Conference, Bombay (1990). He is a member of the Association of Physicians of India, the Cardiological Society of India, the Research Society for the Study of Diabetes in India, and the Indian Medical Association.

He is a familiar voice in the national press — quoted in the Times of India, Hindustan Times, Economic Times, The Statesman, and Business Standard on dengue, chikungunya, vaccination, and public health — and a regular speaker at medical forums on diabetes care and the new generation of metabolic therapies.
